After I graduated from high school in 1977, I went to work for my uncle Allan at North Chicago Iron Works as a truck driver, forklift operator, and crane operator. One day, Elmer S. showed up at Allan’s house with a semi-truck and trailer. The semi was an International Transtar, cabover with a 10-speed transmission. Elmer owned and operated a trucking company out of Phoenix AZ. His driver wired for money and then abandoned his truck in Milwaukee Wisconsin. Elmer had to fly up and finish the run to Kentucky with a load of Timothy hayseed. When Elmer found the truck, it was trashed and smelled bad.
